A Blessing from Above (Little Golden Book) by Patti Henderson - Blessedtwice

Every night before she goes to sleep, a kangaroo prays under the stars for a baby to love and hold. One day, as she rests under a tree, a baby bird falls out of its crowded nest—plop!—right into her pouch!

Now, every night before they fall asleep, Momma-Roo and Little One thank God for all their blessings . . . but especially for each other.

The book closes with a quote from Ephesians 1:5: "In love he destined us for adoption to himself. . . ."

Blessedtwice
This book was recommended by our adoption social worker. I have given it to friends who adopted kids and birthmothers. I think it is a beautiful and simple story about adoption. It is not everyone's story but what I particularly like is that it illustrates (albeit simply) that the birth mom (aka bird) loves the baby chick and wants what is best for the little bird. I LOVE the warm tribute in the front to the birthmothers. They too are blessings from above!!
