The classic books on a timeless subject -- for a new generation.
In 1975, Alona Frankel wrote and illustrated her first book, especially for her son Michael, on how to use the potty. Thirty-two years later, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are the classic books on potty training and have sold more than four million copies worldwide. These childrens books help parents everywhere deal successfully with an often vexing challenge for the whole family.
Thanks to their timeless words and beloved images, Once Upon a Potty -- Boy and Once Upon a Potty -- Girl are being discovered and used by a new generation of parents. These two books, with their phenomenal staying power, target and meet the needs of an obviously perpetual market.
Elegant and Right at a Two Year Olds Level
I thought the book was simple and a little pointless until I read it to my daughter and saw her reaction. She totally got it. Even though I had already told her about pee pee and poo poo, hearing it from an objective third party really helped drive the point home. I'm just her mom, what do I know about these things.
Even though the potty in the book looks nothing like hers, she still understood exactly what the picture represented. She thought the cat bowl and bird bath jokes were actually funny. That's her favorite part in the story.
She was encourage by the part where the little girl misses the potty and goes on the floor. It made her feel like she wasn't alone. This is a huge deal for a little girl who always strives to be good. We talked about this for a minute. Yes, my two year old is a good talker. I think it comes from reading so many books.
The message was simple and really hit home. My two year old didn't need a biology lesson or a silly song. She needed another mommy to reinforce what her mommy already told her.
It gave me some credibility and her some confidence.
