Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Childrens Memories of Previous Lives by Dr. Jim Tucker - Very worthy read, scientific research at its most compelling!

An extraordinarily important examination of scientific research into young childrens reports of past-life memories (Larry Dossey, author of The Extraordinary Healing Power of Ordinary Things)This book covers forty years of research begun by Dr. Ian Stevenson. Written by his colleague and successor, it presents details of some of the 2500 cases of children who have reported memories of previous lives. The children usually begin talking about a past life at the age of two or three. They may talk about a previous family, things they did when they were big, or the way they died in their previous life. Their statements often correspond to a particular deceased individual, and some children have recognized family members of that person. Many children have birthmarks or defects that match wounds on the body of the deceased.Life Before Life presents this research in an unbiased manner. It is not intended to prove reincarnation but is an exploration of the possibility that consciousness continues after the brain dies. This provocative and fascinating book will challenge and ultimately change readers understanding of life and death.

Very worthy read, scientific research at its most compelling!
I am not religious or an atheist, I am a scientist and I honestly think it is through science that we will find "proof" of what reality is. This book is presented by a scientist, and it documents cases of thousands of young children who seem to remember past lives. Often this is the first thing these children will talk about, an obsession with a family they want to find again, and then are able to locate despite never even having been to the city where the former family is. Very compelling evidence and it really will make you think. Not every case is rock solid and the authors don't try to make them so, they simply present what they found. As with anything human nothing is perfect. Many of the cases will raise the hair on the back of your neck or make you cry. Of particular interest to me was the Buddhist practice of marking a corpse so that when the person is reborn they will bear the birthmark showing the family who the reincarnated spirit is. Sound absurd? I kinda thought so too until I read some of the cases, which have been scientifically studied and documented by the University of Virginia. Seriously, if you even slightly consider reincarnation as a possibility (over half the world's population considers it fact) then you should read this book.
